Today we had a field trip to the Lincoln Park Conservatory, which was really fun! It was incredibly hot and humid for a greenhouse, but getting to hear about all the different plants and how taxonomy works from Matt von Konrat, a field museum botantist. He was particularly knowledgable about ferns, which was really interesting because I never really knew much about ferns. It’s a really cool opportunity to see all sorts of plants you can’t see normally without traveling. We also got a behind the scenes tour from Rebecca Conant, the person who trains the conservatory docents. Overall a really good day.
